Ground Source Heat Pumps
With the shift towards low carbon technologies to replace gas and oil, ground source is seen as one of the most sustainable and reliable forms of heating a building. As the heat from the sun penetrates the ground, the temperature is an ambient 10c even in winter and this heat can be used to power the heating requirements within a building. In terms of efficiency, for every one unit of electricity used to run the pump, three to four units of heat are produced, giving it a 300-400% efficiency rate. GSHP’s rely on well insulated buildings to maintain effectiveness and this is a main pre-requisite when considering such technologies. With the new Boiler Upgrade Scheme launching in 2022, you can get up to £5000 towards the cost of upgrading to a renewable source of heating.
